Resistors
We supply a wide range of high-performance resistor solutions designed for industrial applications requiring reliable motor control, power system protection, and harmonic filtering.
Slip Resistors – Used with slip ring motors in demanding applications such as primary crushers in the sugar and wood pulp industries. These resistors help control torque and limit current during motor startup.
Starting & Brake Resistors – Designed to manage the starting and stopping of large electric motors, reducing mechanical stress and electrical surges. Commonly used in:
- Cranes
- Pumps
- Large fans
- Compressors
- Braking inverter motor systems
Neutral Grounding Resistors (NGRs) – Installed in medium and low voltage (MV/LV) distribution networks, NGRs protect generators and transformers from damage during earth faults by safely limiting fault current levels.
Harmonic Filter Resistors – Essential for reducing harmonic distortion caused by electronic power converters. These resistors are typically used with reactors and capacitors to improve power quality and network stability.
Traction & Locomotive Resistors – Specialised for on-board electrical braking systems in rail and transport applications. Built to withstand high thermal loads and ensure reliable braking performance.

Composite Conductor Cable
Locally Manufactured Specialised Cables
Signal • Power • Telecoms • Cabtyre • Instrumentation
At Phendula Synergy, we offer a wide range of locally manufactured, high-performance cables, engineered to meet the demands of diverse industrial sectors, including rail, mining, telecommunications, and automation. Our cables are designed for durability, safety, and compliance with both local and international standards.
Signal Cables – Designed for reliable transmission of data and control across signalling systems, our signal cables are ideally suited for use in rail networks. Construction of our signal cables includes specific colour coding in accordance with required network systems. Exceptional mechanical protection is guaranteed in the form of galvanised steel wire or double steel tape armouring.
Low Voltage Power Cables (0.6/1kV) – Our range of power cables include options of armoured cables for environments that require additional mechanical protection and unarmoured for use in trays and conduits. We can supply in a range of conductors including Copper, Aluminium and Composite, depending on the application we can offer rigid or flexible conductors. We provide insulations option of flame retardant, low halogen flame retardant and zero halogen flame retardant.
Telecoms Cables – Our telecom cables support both voice and data transmission over short and long distances. Manufactured to comply with local and international standards, these cables are suitable for use in structured cabling systems, network backbones, and telecommunications infrastructure. Suppliers of railway approved construction telephone cables (SCCA4 and SCCA5) and telephone cables for underground mining systems in both 0.6mm and 0.9mm constructions.
Cabtyre Cables – Highly flexible and suitable for mobile and fixed use, cabtyre is designed for use with portable equipment, power tools, and temporary installations. Our cabtyre cables are manufactured to withstand repeated movement, UV stability allows for permanent outdoor use.
Instrumentation Cables – Specifically design for use in a variety of industries including Mining, Processing plants, and factory automation. Instrumentation cables are designed for the clean and accurate transmission of data and signalling. These cables are generally constructed in pairs, triads and quads, they are either individually and overall screened with aluminium foil tape or only overall screened depending on the application. Armouring options include steel wire armour and aluminium poly laminate tubing; unarmoured versions are also available. For applications that require movement we can offer braided screens as an alternative to aluminium foils. Outer sheath options are extensive and can be tailored to your unique requirements
